Biography

Ingrid Solberg builds and studies interfaces that have to earn a user's trust rather than assume it. Her lab runs regular usability studies with students, staff, and community partners.

Designing Trust in Conversational Interfaces

People calibrate their trust in a conversational system based on cues that have little to do with its actual reliability. This project prototypes interface patterns that communicate a system's real confidence and limitations, then tests whether users' trust shifts to match.

Human-Computer Interaction

Human-Computer Interaction teaches design and evaluation methods for interfaces that real people actually have to use: usability heuristics, prototyping, and structured user testing. Students run an actual usability study on their own project during the semester.
